Scouting is fun. Scouting educates. Scouting is community based. Scouting is a charity. Scouting is run by volunteers.
Here at the 58th Scout Group we like to think our Leaders do their best in providing a vibrant programme for the young people of our area. Our Leaders though are under pressure which not only impacts on that programme but also means some young people don’t have access to our Group. Ultimately we need more “fulltime” Leaders but we realise this is not possible for the majority of people as they already have other commitments. We are aware that some have come forward to help already, for which we are grateful, but for the good of the sections and the relationship between Young People and Leaders continuity is what we’re after. The role we would like to fill is that of a Group Section Assistant (G.S.A.) whereby there is a commitment to help two evenings a month or every other week.
Our sections:
- Beavers – Monday 18.15-19.30
- Cubs – Tuesday 18.30-19.45
- Scouts – Tuesday 20.00-21.30
What does this involve?
- D.B.S. (C.R.B.) check.
- An interview with the appointments committee.
- Two online Training Modules (i) Essential Information (ii) Tools for the Role.
- Uniform & Promise (although this is not compulsory)
Then at the section meeting, and if you’re able for the occasional weekend, you would be working as part of a team helping the Young People and the section achieve all that Scouting has to offer.
‘WHAT IF’ all the Leaders couldn’t maintain their current level of commitment we would have no Scout Group just a nice hall full of old memories.
If you would like more information please speak to any of the section Leaders or contact the Group Scout Leader via the contact form below
On behalf of the Leaders and Executive committee thank you for your consideration-
